NZ PARLIAMENT
ROLE: Discovery, IA, Design
An intranet that each can make their own
When we engaged with New Zealand Parliament, the biggest issue with their current intranet was that it was avoided. We gave them a redesign that not only simplified tasks, but gave them quick access to the items used most often. This plus allowing each user group to customise part of their homepage made it a win!

A clear, tool driven structure with content tailored to their needs.
During the Discovery process and user interviews. Each group let us know what they would like to see in the new design to make the intranet a useful tool for everyday use. We took their input onboard, and created something that could be used as a sort of dashboard throughout their day. Being able to customise certain areas was key, as well as creating modules to encourage social engagement between the departments.

A simplified structure
A flatter, simpler navigation structure without the unnecessary levels. The previous site contained many rabbit holes for people to get lost in.
A customisable homepage
We gave the department groups customisable areas on the homepage so that they could have quick access to the items that were important to them.
Mobile device friendly
The rebuild included making sure that it was also easy to use on mobile devices. This is especially helpful for when users are away from their desks or working remotely.
We focused on the people
A focus on creating feature stories focused on the individuals who work at Parliament so that people could get to know each other a bit better.
